Rio de Janeiro : Here we go for 15 intense days of Olympia!

Thursday 11 August 2016

This Thursday was a busy day with train the horses, visit the Swiss House and the Studio of Swiss TV, which was a trip of quite a few hours by bus - all in awaiting for the vet check on Friday morning at 07:00 (at noon Swiss Time).

L'équipe de Suisse de CSO à Rio Here is a photo of the almost complete delegation this morning in Deodoro, with (left to right): Thomas Fuchs, Thomas Wagner (veterinary), Martin Fuchs, Janika Sprunger, Paul Estermann, Steve Guerdat, Romain Duguet and Andy Kistler, Chef d'Equipe, just missing farrier Cyrill Zuber and Evelyne Niklaus, Cheffe de Mission.

It seems like the Swiss show jumping team has to deal with a lot of other tasks, duties and a few other "obstacles" aside the five real competitions coming up between next Sunday and Friday. This morning the five Olympic horses have completed a good workout and training session. Then just before noon (17:00 Swiss time) the team departed by bus to the broadcasting center of the Swiss Television and the Swiss House at Lake Freitas, at the famous beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana, a drive of at least 1.5 hours from Deodoro there. At 13:30 h (18:30 Swiss time), the team was at the press conference, and at 15 o'clock (20:00 Swiss time) they went for lunch at the Maison Suisse, just in time to celebrate the Olympic gold of the Swiss rowers!

And on Friday morning already early at 7:00 starts the veterinary inspection, and then on Sunday the first qualifying competition at 10 am (15 pm Swiss time), signing the start of a long week, with many expectations and efforts.
