After San Giovanni, this is just the second Grand Prix for Hannah, and the second victory for the Olympic champion with this strong and brilliant 10-year-old Belgian mare!
Steve has only been riding Hannah since the end of March, and the pair won already the Grand Prix at their first joint tournament, the CSI3* of San Giovanni. Once again together on this beautiful sunny Sunday at the CSIO Lummen, the Olympic champion of 2012 won the Grand Prix of Belgium with an extraordinary performance.
Only five pairs out of 48 (11%) made it to the jump-off, where Steve Guerdat started third. Although not rushing he nonetheless tried to gallop fast between the nine obstacles of the jump-off course, and to turn quickly, especially on the last jump, which he jumped quite obliquely. The 10-year-old Belgian mare Hannah, who came from Mexico to Steve's stables just in mid-March, replied with great harmony to his aids.
Second place for the Swede and Olympic silver medalist Peder Fredricson, just a second behind with H & M Christian, third place for Emilio Bicocchi from Italy with his faithful Sassicaia Ares: A trio of fine and elegant riders.
Steve Guerdat also ranked in the very good 3rd place in the Derby on Saturday with Dioleen, who had already been first and third in other competitions: What a consistency!
On Sunday Steve furthermore also started in the GP2* with Bianca, preparing for the upcoming CSIO in La Baule in mid-May. And at the CSI5* in Paris-Versailles coming weekend it is planned that Corbinian will be at the start again. We look forward to it!
