From tomorrow Wednesday, 23 August, the European Championships in show jumping will start in Gothenburg (Sweden) for the Swiss team, who will try to bring home at least one medal. At the side of his team members Janika Sprunger, Nadja Peter Steiner, Martin Fuchs and Roman Duguet, Steve is aiming for a fourth medal at European Championships, especially in the individuals, as he finished already three times on the podium with the team (gold in 2009, silver 2005 and bronze in 2003). The final decision, which four riders will compete in the European championship, will be taken on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, after the training session and thus one day before the first qualifying round.

The Olympic champion of London 2012 will set on Bianca for the European Championship, knowing that with his mare he performed no less than three times a double clear round at the Nations Cup this year (Rome, St. Gallen and Rotterdam). With his Sweden Warmblood mare, Steve will start the competitions on Wednesday morning with the first qualifying round (Table C). This first ranking counts for the individuals as well as for the team classification. On Thursday afternoon and Friday evening, the two rounds of the nations cup will follow. The second round of the nations cup decides on the team medals and also counts for the individuals classification. The European Championship will then be determined in the third qualifying round on Sunday in the individuals final.

Yesterday, the riders were on site for the horse inspection of the horses of the Swiss team, which all passed without problems. Today a warm-up training session will take place on the beautiful sand arena, before the jumping competition starts tomorrow morning.

Live TV

RTS will be present during the week with Pierre Pouiller and Alban Poudret (consultant) on site and report from a week of great sports. All competitions can be followed live on RTS.ch, the second round of the Nations Cup will be broadcasted on Friday between 20:30 and 23:30 hrs and the individuals final on Sunday from 14:00 hrs on RTS2.
