What a sport and what an atmosphere! The 42 riders at the start of the Grand Prix had quickly realized that this course was on the level of the prize money. As so often, Steve excelled himself once again and jumped in the saddle of Albführen's Paille to perfection, with accuracy, rhythm and an exceptional tact. And Paille de la Roque has fulfilled all expectations, obviously felt very comfortable on this difficult course and full of energy. Clear in the first round, Steve had attacked for sure in the jump-off but without taking the last risk, and was beaten by just one second.
"I do not regret anything, because it would have been too early for me to ride even faster today. I know this mare for only a few months, and it is only the third jump-off I completed with her. Rather I would like to thank the responsibles of the Hofgut Albführen who have thought of me and entrusted me their top horses. At the time with Albführen's Paille, Memphis and Happiness I have three of them in my stable, and this is a great opportunity for me. "
By the way, Friday in a 145-competition Steve finished in 3rd place with Albführen's Memphis.
